The Mako Group addss Remington 870 Handguards with Rails (PR-870) to its weapons accessories product line. The Picatinny rail system, manufactured by FAB Defense from reinforced plastic composite to MIL-STD 1913, provides a rigid ultra-light platform on which to mount virtually any mission-specific accessory. In addition to mounting either a foregrip, flashlight, or laser on the lower rail, two optional side rails are available for flashlight and laser mounting. No gunsmithing is required. The handguards also provide thermal insulation, thereby shielding the heat from the barrel and allowing the user to comfortably hold onto the handguards.
